SUNBUILT - EFRO project (2010-2014)

As part of an European investment project, two closed 300-, and two closed 1500-liter photobioreactors for the pilot scale cultivation of microalgae were built and installed in a greenhouse at the Thomas More campus in Geel. The production units are coupled to a harvest and downstream processing unit for the extraction of high quality products with applications in food, feed, aquaculture, cosmetics, chemistry and pharmacy. This project was accomplished together with VITO (www.vito.be).
