ENOP – Interreg Vlaanderen-Nederland project (2016-2019)
The ambition of the Interreg project EnOp is the development of CO2 conversion technologies. Therefore, the project focusses both on direct and indirect conversion methodologies. Our role within EnOp is to examine the conversion of CO2 and sunlight to specialty chemicals by microalgae by looking at CO2 fixation rates, growth capacities, and biomolecules produced by algae, in cooperation with VITO (www.vito.be) . Several microalgae strains are currently studied in the lab and experiments in the PBRs on pilot scale are planned later this year. Results from lab and pilot scale research will be integrated in a growth model that will correlate growth, temperature, light, CO2 use and fixation and energy use.
